Tartarus by illysArt Tartarus by illysArt
Comments and Suggestions for improvement are welcome......this piece is being considered for a Greek Skill Challenge.

"So the Judges sent you to me. You must have been very, very naughty to deserve such a fate. Shall we begin?" - Tartarus greeting a newly exiled soul.

Presenting my vision for the Greek protogenos, Tartarus. I prefer to envision Tartarus as a male who instills terror by just showing up. As he produced offspring with Gaia, another primordial deity but represented as a buxom woman, Tartarus having a male form makes further sense to my small human mind.

To quote Wikipedia, "In Greek mythology, Tartarus is both a deity and a place in the underworld. In ancient Orphic sources and in the mystery schools, Tartarus is also the unbounded first-existing entity from which the Light and the cosmos are born."

Other online sources indicate 'Tartaros' is a purely elemental deity with the form of a pit that initially held captive those that presented danger to the Olympian gods. In later myths, the Tartarian Pit provided punishments that fit the crime of any who were sent there.

Thank you. It's hard getting into the saddle again after not working on anything for a while.

I'm struggling with the shiny sheen on the skin. I'm not sure I like it. I'm not sure how to fix it. That will be for another day.

Like you don't want it to shine or you want it to shine more?

I don't want it to shine. It seems plastic to my eyes and not like real skin. Am I imagining it?

I use DAZ Studio to render. I have Poser and only use that for products that are Poser only (like the fire).
